We are seeking a dedicated Senior Youth Care Specialist to join our mission and make a meaningful impact in the lives of at-risk youth.
Purpose & Impact :
The Senior Youth Care Specialist will play a crucial role as a shift lead, overseeing daily activities and providing guidance to Youth Care Specialists II. This is a vital direct service position where strong leadership abilities are key. Please note that this position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Essential Functions :
- Monitor daily operations of the shelter to ensure smooth functioning.
- Assist in preparing staff schedules and meeting agendas.
- Oversee the scheduling of shelter activities.
- Review log reports and documentation for accuracy.
- Ensure security of facilities and proper access protocols.
- Assist in maintaining adequate office supplies, food, and essential items for program care.
- Facilitate seamless communication and information transfer between shifts and with clinical staff.
- Participate in various in-service training sessions to enhance skills.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings.
- Provide supervision and support to clients as needed.
- Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Review all security equipment and coordinate inspections (e.g., Fire, Health).
- Provide detailed reports about program progress to the Program Manager.
- Perform other related duties as required, contributing to the program's goals.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to remain physically active throughout the workday, including frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.Capable of safely intervening in crisis situations, including physical guidance or restraint of youth as necessary.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.Quick response capability to emergency situations.Excellent verbal communication skills for effective interaction with youth and team members.Proficient in operating standard office equipment and technology for documentation and communication.Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoors in inclement weather.Strong visual and auditory acuity to ensure youth safety.High energy level required for physical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and transporting youth during outings.Education :
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience :
A minimum of two years of experience in direct care service delivery is required; team lead experience is preferred.
Skills :
Dependability, discretion, and sound judgment are essential. The ideal candidate will establish effective relationships with clients, co-workers, and the general public. A valid driver's license is required.
Other :
Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs of our service population.
