What You'll Do :
- Partner across interdisciplinary R&D functions — packaging, processing, product development, and food safety — to ensure seamless execution of technical project work
- Lead R&D lab and pilot plant operations including equipment maintenance and calibration, inventory management, cleaning, and sample preparation.
- Facilitate resource meetings and manage the direction of technician requests to ensure the right priorities are addressed.
- Own and operate sensory and shelf-life programs ensuring proper administration, tracking, and analysis to deliver reliable results and actionable insights.
- Act as a compliance champion working closely with food safety to maintain safety, GMP, and HACCP best practices and complete required documentation.
- Independently complete benchwork including preparation of batch sheets, product batching, and recording of test results and applicable notes in development software systems.
- Operate and troubleshoot lab instruments (e.g. pH meters, refractometers, titrators, etc.) and pilot plant equipment (e.g. pasteurizer, carbonator, filter press, etc.)
- Meaningfully contribute to the growth of our lab and pilot plant capabilities with an eye on continuous improvement
- 75% hands-on work and 25% facilitation
Who You Are
Has demonstrated interest in product development, sensory, and food safety.Is familiar with set up, operation, and shutdown of processing equipment and relevant analytical instruments including refractometers, titrators, and pH meters.Is competent with laboratory best practices and safety measures including appropriate PPE usage, chemical handling skills, and GMPs. HACCP experience a plus.Demonstrates keen attention to detail in day-to-day execution.Owns outcomes by proactively solving problems and delivering reliable results.Courageously challenges by asking thoughtful questions and seeking clarity to ensure the best outcomes.Shows One Team focus by supporting team members and stepping in where needed.Manages multiple responsibilities independently and with accountability.Communicates effectively across teams and summarizes results clearly and with fluency.Adheres to guidelines, follows procedures, and utilizes resources to find solutions.Requirements :
Monday – Friday primarily onsite3-5 yrs of lab experience in a relevant technical field (pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, chemical / engineering). Experience in food & beverage preferred.Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.Ability to operate and maintain equipment safely.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Ability to stand for an extended period of time.What You'll Enjoy :

This range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position across all US locations, is based on a full-time work schedule, and is Welch's good faith estimate as of the date of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for participation in a bonus plan.
