Horizons' Neighborhood Transportation Service (NTS) is seeking part time drivers to join our team! As a driver, you will have the opportunity to provide transportation services to individuals in need, ensuring they can access the essential services and support they require. Horizons operates 24 hours / day, 7 days / week. We are looking for flexibility in covering evenings, late nights, early mornings, and weekends ! For 60 years Horizons, A Family Service Alliance has been dedicated to providing opportunities to improve the lives of individuals and families. Horizons provides a variety of human services across Eastern Iowa including : Transportation, Financial Wellness, and Meals on Wheels.

What would you do as a Driver?

Each shift, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting clients to their destinations, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout the journey. You will utilize your excellent navigational skills to plan and follow the most efficient routes, adhering to all traffic rules and regulations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized vehicle, conducting pre-trip inspections, and reporting any maintenance or repair needs promptly. Additionally, you will maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, pick-up and drop-off times, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and on time.

Does this sound like you?

To excel in the role of a driver at Horizons, you will need a combination of essential skills and qualifications. Firstly, a valid Iowa driver's license and a clean driving record are imperative to ensure the safety of our clients and the community. You should have strong knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and the ability to handle various road and weather conditions with confidence. Additionally, good organizational and time management skills will enable you to efficiently plan your routes and meet scheduled pick-up and drop-off times. You should possess excellent communication skills, as you will be interacting with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Basic computer skills are also necessary, as you will be required to accurately update trip records, navigate online mapping tools, and use software or tools specific to our transportation operations.
