Bus Driver
Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, is now accepting applications for experienced bus drivers or interested applicants with a class A or B CDL, with a passenger endorsement, to apply to our applicant pool. Drivers will transport students and other authorized personnel for college-sponsored activities as needed. Multiple positions are available and hours are determined according to planned trips.
Qualifications
Must be able to provide current certifications and qualifications required by the state to drive a passenger bus including but not limited to : Be physically qualified under Title 49 CFR, 391.41. Be at least 21 years old. Be medically certified at a minimum of every 24 months. Pass background check. Pass drug & alcohol testing. Accurately record service hours according to DOT regulations. Read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records. Have a driver's license that is valid for the type of vehicle driven. Class A or B, CDL with a P endorsement (Should be a A & B w / a P endorsement due to weight of bus). Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Preferences : Previous bus driving experience (at least 1yr). Hold required DOT medical certification. Some training and some certifications required for becoming an eligible driver can be done after hire. Please note, that reference checks, random drug testing, and review of driving safety records will be performed and employment is contingent on passing results. This is not an exhaustive list of possible screening tools that may be utilized.
Major Responsibilities / Duties
Operate bus, providing safe and efficient transportation for the college community. Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensuring passenger safety. Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops. Performs routine vehicle inspection and maintenance including checking the oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and water and tire pressures. Monitoring and reporting fuel consumption, mileage, and passenger numbers. Maintains records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences. Responding to emergency and non-emergency situations. Inspect the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip. Assisting with the loading and unloading of the bus when required. Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the bus. Maintaining a clean vehicle. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
