Saint Monica Preparatory, a parish, coeducational, TK-12 day school, and ministry of the St. Monica Catholic Community in the heart of Santa Monica, welcomes applications for the 2024-2025 High School Humanities Academy Teacher Pool of candidates for full-time English teacher.

The Humanities Academy at SMPREP offers standards-based, Gold Standard PBL curricula. Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit resumes as soon as possible.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree and / or credential in English or closely related field and / or California Single-subject Teaching Credential in English
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience
  • Prior experience developing and facilitating Project Based Learning (PBL)

SALARY / BENEFITS

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles offers health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision. All employees are enrolled in pension benefits from employment and considered vested after five years of full-time employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or closely related field
  • Ability to teach a range of courses in English, Literature, and Composition
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching English to high school students
  • Experience using instructional technology
  • An ability to convey enthusiasm for the subject matter and develop a positive rapport with students
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to contribute to school life outside of the classroom
  • Wage Range

    The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
