Job Description

Bluegrass Equine Surgery (BES) is an equine veterinary practice providing exceptional client service and primary medical care in the central Kentucky region. We are building a new, diverse, supportive, and driven team.

BESC is seeking to immediately fill the position of Equine Barn / Recovery Tech.

Hours : Full time, Tuesday-Friday, 7a.m. - 5p.m.

Reports to : Barn Manager, Surgery Operations Manager

Department : Surgery

Location : Hospital and field

Compensation : Hourly

The BES Equine Surgery Recovery Technician assists the patient with all aspects of the surgical process with horses, from arrival to departure.

DUTIES

Medical

• Assist in appointments or drop-offs
• Admit and discharge patients
• Monitor hospitalized and surgery patients
• Monitor all post-op meds and bandaging
• Communicate with Surgery Ops Manager, Barn Manager, doctors
• Restrain patients as needed
• Take vital measurements on patients
• Take patients outside when needed
• Feed patients as needed
• Assist in other procedures around hospital, including holding for standing surgeries, lameness exams, scintigraphy scans, etc.
• Assist in taking x-rays
• Help keep barn and surgery area clean
• Model professionalism and ethical practices

$11.50-$21.58 USD
