American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) contract requiring Idaho or compact RN licensure and pediatric critical care experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 12-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within an acute care hospitalDay shifts from 7a-7p with weekend shifts required as neededNurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 2, with census fluctuating based on seasonFrequent floating required to pediatric, NICU units, and mandatory patient sitter assignmentsCommon patient types include trach / vent, diabetic ketoacidosis, respiratory, surgical (trachs, g-tubes, shunts), hernia repairs, and seizures; no cardiac patientsRNs are expected to titrate drips including propofol, fentanyl, and epinephrineEpic EMR is utilized for documentation; experience preferredUse of Alaris IV pumps and ventilator, bubble CPAP, and BiPAP respiratory equipmentNo nurse aides or patient care techs on unitSupport a multidisciplinary team with a charge nurse present on each shift who does not take a patient assignmentPediatrician in-house during the day with occasional call coverage at nightOn-unit orientation consists of two twelve-hour shiftsFlexible block scheduling possible for up to five shifts when it meets unit needsScrub color is flexible and any color may be wornExpected to work at least one holiday during the contract periodFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyReturning permanent employees to facility must have at least one year separation before applying\n \n Requirements\n
Active Idaho or compact RN license required upon considerationBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) requiredCurrent BLS and PALS certifications requiredMinimum of two years PICU nursing experience requiredExperience with EVD, trach and ventilator care requiredAbility to read and interpret telemetry strips requiredPrevious hospital PICU experience requiredDriver’s license required for considerationMust reside outside a 50-mile radius from facility locationTwo professional references : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last three years\n Benefits\n
