Position summary : The Hospitalist provides care for the hospitalized patient throughout the hospital stay. The Hospitalist provides emergency evaluation and triage in addition to admission to the hospital and formation of a differential break diagnosis, formulates a comprehensive care plan in accordance with the most up to date evidence-based protocols, and participates in the education of the hospital's physicians, students, nurses and all members of the patient care team.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for hospitalized patients throughout their stay.
• Provide emergency evaluation and triage in addition to admission to the hospital and formation of a differential break diagnosis.
• Formulates a comprehensive care plan in accordance with the most up to date evidence-based protocols.
• Participates in the education of the hospital's physicians, students, nurses and all members of the patient care team.
• Conducts comprehensive examinations and evaluations and makes treatment decisions.
• Admits patients to the hospital for primary care physicians on need basis.
• Provides primary and consultative medical care to patients admitted to various units of the hospital with appropriate subspecialty consultation.
• Coordinates care of patients through appropriate collaboration with other physicians, nursing staff, case managers and ancillary service providers.
• Keeps patients informed and gives periodic updates as appropriate.
• Participates in hospital’s utilization management, risk management and performance improvement programs.
