About The Position

Job Title : EEG Technician

Profession : Tech

Specialty : EEG / Sleep

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 2 years prior experience as an EEG technician

License : Board of Registered EEG Technologist (ABRET) or Certified EEG Technician (CET)

Certifications : BLS - American Heart Association

Must-Have :

High School diploma or GED is required

Graduate of an accredited EEG or END program with 1 year experience as an EEG technician is preferred

Description :

Under supervision, prepares patients and equipment and performs EEG and evoked potentials examinations.

Instructs and prepares patients and equipment for tests.

Performs EEG and Evoked Potential testing on patients of all ages in the EEG Department or at the patient’s bedside.

Determines and selects recording parameters based on each patient’s diagnosis or complaint.

Takes recordings, analyzes data, and with assistance, prepares results for physicians.

Studies wave characteristics during tests to detect evidence of brain disorders.

Completes checklists, writes clear narratives, and enters data into computer files as appropriate.

Completes transcription and accurately processes physician orders according to policy.

Performs routine maintenance on equipment.

Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization and abides by service behavior standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

May be required to float to other departments based on business need.

May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
