Job Description

Graduate Engineer (EIT) – Drainage / Water Resources

Our client, a well-established civil engineering firm, is seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer (EIT) to join their Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) team in Houston. This role offers hands-on experience, structured mentorship, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects in drainage, land development, and transportation.

Position Overview

This opportunity is ideal for an early-career civil engineer who wants exposure to both design and modeling while working directly with senior engineers and project managers. You’ll be joining a five-person H&H group within a mid-sized, stable firm that prioritizes professional development and long-term growth.

This is an in-office only position with flexible work hours available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform H&H modeling and drainage design for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Support drafting and production work in AutoCAD / Civil 3D.
  • Assist senior project managers and engineers on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, with opportunities to support land development and transportation work.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, design documents, and project deliverables.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of relevant civil engineering experience.
  • Texas Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license required.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D preferred.
  • Interest in both modeling and design (not just analysis).
  • Academic or internship background in hydrology, hydraulics, or general civil engineering a plus (technical training provided).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary : $75,000–$82,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Bonuses : Profit-sharing (annual) + performance-based incentives.
  • Health Insurance : 80% employer-paid for employees, 50% for dependents.
  • Paid Time Off : 10 vacation days + 8 holidays + sick leave.
  • Professional Development : PE exam support, raise and bonus upon licensure.
  • Work Schedule : In-office only; flexible hours available (e.g., 9–6 instead of 8–5).
  • Culture & Environment

Our client is a mid-sized, stable firm of ~80 employees (30–35 in the Houston office) with a low turnover rate and a strong emphasis on mentorship and employee development. The team values collaboration and invests in long-term career growth.

Expect a supportive and people-focused environment, with Friday breakfasts, monthly celebrations, and a culture that prioritizes both professional excellence and team camaraderie.
