Upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional permit or license; operates a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment to include backhoe, tractors with attachments, crew cabs, and dump truck. Performs pre-trip inspection / minor maintenance on vehicles / equipment that they are operating. Cleans and washes equipment.
Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments at an intermediate level of complexity with minimal supervision.
Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and / or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs.

A Class E driver's license is required at time of hire. A CDL Class B License Instructional Permit is required within 60 days of appointment to the position and obtain a CDL Class "B" CDL with air brakes within 10 months of appointment to the position.
This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following :
