Job description

Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Business Development will be instrumental in shaping and executing the global sales and business development strategy for our innovative Cell and Gene Therapies (CGT) Technologies division. This key role, reporting directly to the Senior Director for Sales and Business Development, focuses on expanding our portfolio by forging strategic partnerships and business development initiatives in the dynamic field of cell and gene therapies.

As a Senior Manager, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Field Application Specialists, R&D, Product Management, and Legal, to implement strategic business initiatives that drive innovation and growth. This position is ideal for a results-oriented, strategic thinker with substantial expertise in the Cell & Gene Therapies industry.

  • This position can be performed remotely but will require travel up to 40% (domestic & international). This includes regular visits to our headquarters in Lake Zurich, IL, to collaborate with internal teams.
  • Base salary range : $163,000-$182,000
  • Eligible for an annual bonus plan targeting 14% of base salary.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and execution of strategic business efforts to grow the Cell & Gene Therapies Technologies division through partnerships, collaborations, and licensing opportunities.
  • Identify and nurture new business prospects, collaborating with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, academic institutions, contract development, and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) in the gene and cell therapy arena.
  • Lead negotiations and the structuring of complex agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while managing risks and stakeholder interests.
  • Monitor trends, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics within the cell and gene therapy market to pinpoint new opportunities and challenges, providing strategic insights to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, product management, legal, commercial, marketing) to evaluate scientific and technical feasibility, ensure alignment with business objectives, and manage project timelines and deliverables for partnerships.
  • Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Life Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in sales and / or business development.
  • 3+ years of direct experience in the Cell and Gene Therapies industry, with comprehensive understanding of market trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM and business analytics.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 40%, including international travel.
