The Norris and Dorothy Haring Center for Research and Training in Inclusive Education grew out of 50 years of groundbreaking work in special education at the Experimental Education Unit. The Haring Center is proud to be a leader in developing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating strategies to help children of all abilities and backgrounds succeed, all teachers to be effective, and all caregivers feel confident and competent. The Haring Center’s commitment to equity-based inclusion leads us to invest in recruiting colleagues who demonstrate experience with, knowledge of, and sensitivity to the needs of culturally diverse and marginalized populations.
The Haring Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist. Reporting to the Haring Center Director (Dr. Kathleen Artman Meeker), the Research Scientist will work with the Haring Center team to design, implement, analyze, and disseminate research related to early childhood inclusion. This role will also serve as a subject matter expert in this area and will produce customized technical trainings to external partners and collaborators in the field, oversee the conceptualization and implementation of research and evaluation activities, and orchestrate internal and external communications and outreach efforts as they relate to this initiative. This position will include supporting the development of new research projects, seeking new funding, and working with colleagues on existing research projects. The Research Scientist will work with colleagues and students from multiple disciplines and, in addition to demonstrating disciplinary excellence, must be able to work collaboratively across disciplines.
This position requires someone with a broad knowledge about early childhood / early childhood special education research, state and federal policies, and initiatives on supporting the early learning workforce and early childhood inclusion. It also requires expertise in higher education to provide faculty and administrators with a clear perspective about the options for delivering online courses, programs or degrees.
