Overview

The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform connects online Music Theory tutors with thousands of students nationwide. As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys—from home.

Base contract rates start at $18 / hour and increase for specialized subjects, with potential to earn up to $40 / hour as you tutor the same student over time. You can be paid up to twice per week for sessions you conduct and invoice. Set your own hours and tutor remotely using our Live Learning Platform. You’ll be matched with students who fit your teaching style and expertise, and our AI-powered Tutor Copilot provides real-time instructional support to help you save prep time and focus on teaching. We handle logistics and payments; you invoice for your tutoring sessions.

Responsibilities / What You Do

  • Provide 1-on-1 online Music Theory tutoring to individual students.
  • Deliver personalized instruction, adapt to different learning styles, and explain concepts clearly.
  • Prepare and guide lessons using the platform’s tools and features to support student learning.
  • Communicate progress and adjust teaching strategies to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications / What We Look For

  • Expertise in Music Theory with the ability to explain concepts clearly.
  • Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Preference given to those with tutoring or teaching experience and graduate-level education.
