Scrum Master / Software Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for a Software Engineer with strong embedded C++ expertise to support a next-generation space and satellite initiative. This hybrid role blends engineering leadership with hands-on development in real-time operating systems like VxWorks, ideally suited for candidates who thrive in agile, fast-paced environments. The engineer will drive both technical execution and agile delivery, contributing directly to high-impact, mission-critical software systems.

Responsibilities

Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.

Guide the team on Agile principles and help remove impediments to progress.

Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure backlog clarity and prioritization.

Track and report team metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and transparency.

Utilize Git for version control and collaboration across development teams.

Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C++ for real-time systems.

Work within the VxWorks RTOS environment to support satellite and space system functionality.

Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of embedded systems.

Collaborate with systems engineers and other developers to meet performance and reliability requirements.

Ensure compliance with software development standards and documentation.

Essential Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of experience in embedded software development using C++.

Strong experience with VxWorks and real-time operating systems.

Proven experience working in real-time environments with strict timing and reliability constraints.

Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.

Proficiency with Git for source control and team collaboration.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in aerospace, defense, or satellite systems.

Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Rally.

Experience with hardware / software integration and low-level debugging.

Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Huntington Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00 / hr.
