The University of Miami / UHealth Department of Dermatology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant 1 to work in Miami, FL. The Certified Nursing Assistant 1 performs standard patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse. The incumbent assists patients in dressing and undressing, bathing, and eating, and collects noninvasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs. The Certified Nursing Assistant 1 aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures and documents patient interactions.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for the sterilization and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
• Maintain updated knowledge of sterile techniques and maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
• Provide additional support for triage unit and assist with incoming calls as needed.
• Administers non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz and therapeutic baths, and applies restraints.
• Ensure rooms are appropriately equipped and ready to use
• Stock each clinic room on a regular basis throughout the day, and rotate inventory, assure all stock is within expiration limits.
• Assist with inventory counts and controls as directed by nursing supervisors.
• Assist with medical records, paperwork, etc.
• Document any / all communication with the patient within the medical record, office visits, telephone conversations, messages, etc.
• Consistently maintain complete confidentiality regarding patient care as per HIPAA requirements
• Conduct daily activities, communications, and interactions in a positive and professional manner
• Identify and report potential and active environmental safety hazards
• Implement clinical and technical aspects of patient care with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions
