We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Transportation Planner to join a dynamic team within the Transportation Planning Section . The ideal candidate will be responsible for advanced transportation planning tasks, focusing on Transportation Impact Statements (TIS) , Bicycle / Pedestrian Impact Statements (BPIS) , and the review of transportation-related analyses. This role requires expertise in transportation planning , traffic analysis , and the ability to provide technical guidance on transportation facilities and policies for new developments, redevelopment projects, and transportation initiatives.

Job Type : Full-time, Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days virtual)
Work Schedule : Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM (with possible flexibility during standard business hours)

Key Responsibilities :
Transportation Impact Statements (TIS) & Bicycle / Pedestrian Impact Statements (BPIS) : Review and assess the adequacy of TIS and BPIS for various development applications, ensuring they meet transportation and multimodal goals.Transportation Analyses : Perform moderate to complex transportation analyses for subdivision and zoning applications, including trip generation , parking calculations , and impact scoping .Technical Consultation : Serve as a resource for Planner I’s , II’s , and other planning staff on technical and policy matters related to transportation planning .Project Management : Lead and contribute to projects such as updating area master plans , functional master plans , and transportation review guidelines for traffic studies and Bicycle / Pedestrian Impact Statements .Transportation Recommendations : Develop transportation-related recommendations and facilities for new developments and redevelopment applications .Coordination with Agencies : Collaborate with federal , state , and local transportation , transit , and planning agencies to advance county goals and transportation projects .Policy Review : Participate in the review and advancement of new development policies , zoning regulations , and Countywide Master Plan of Transportation .Public Engagement : Serve as a technical transportation advisor for the Planning Board and elected officials , responding to general transportation inquiries from the public and various agencies.Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications :
Education :
Bachelor’s Degree in Planning , Transportation , Civil Engineering , or a related field.Master’s Degree in Transportation Planning or Urban Planning preferred.Experience :
Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional-level planning experience , focusing on transportation planning or urban planning .Experience in project management and multimodal transportation policy is preferred.Technical Skills :
Strong understanding of transportation impact analysis , trip generation , parking analysis , and traffic modeling .Proficiency in planning software (e.g., ArcGIS , AutoCAD ).Knowledge of county geography , transportation systems , and land use development .Communication Skills :
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively explain complex transportation issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.Experience preparing and presenting reports, technical memorandums, and public presentations to elected officials and the public.Collaboration & Leadership :
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with cross-functional groups.Ability to serve as a lead consultant on transportation-related projects and provide mentorship to junior staff.Legislative and Regulatory Knowledge :
Strong understanding of local and state transportation law , including zoning ordinances and subdivision regulations .Experience advancing transportation policies and impact studies through the legislative process.Background Requirements :
Comprehensive background investigation , including criminal , education , and employment / professional references .Valid Driver’s License (depending on area of assignment) in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations.
