Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary :

Under general direction and supervision of supervisor or director, or their designee, provides clinical social work services to Alaska Tribal Health System beneficiaries.

Responsibilities :

Practices social work at the Master's degree level, demonstratingskill in independently conducting psychosocial assessments and delivering evidence-based psychological treatment interventions to a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people.

Possesses knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures (i.e. acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses / injuries, common medications and their effects / side effects, and medical terminology) to formulate a treatment plan.

Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of clients with posttraumatic stress disorder, addictions, and other serious behavioral health disorders.

Provides crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment.

Completes routine charting to include dictating behavioral health evaluations and progress notes. Maintains client charts in a timely and professional manner to ensure compliance with Medicaid and other applicable regulations to document diagnosis, assessment, intervention, referral, consultation and related functions.

Teaches and mentors behavioral health staff and students in the special area of social work practiceand has the ability to expand clinical knowledge in the profession.

Provides consultation and guidance to colleagues, role model effective social work practice skills, teach or provide orientation to less experienced social workers, develop innovations in practice interventions, and provide clinical supervision for social work licensure or certification.

Attends department meetings and contributes to the development and implementation of statewide tele-behavioral health expansion supports to Tribal Health Organizations.

Participates in educational programs and / or workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of clinical knowledge and techniques.

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction strategies.
  • Knowledge of culturally minded treatment frameworks / skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources, to make appropriate referrals to community and other governmental agencies for services, and ability to coordinate services.
  • Knowledge of models of clinical supervision.
  • Skill in provision of evidence-based behavioral health treatment and outcome monitoring.
  • Skill in DSM-5 assessment and diagnosis.
  • Skill in treatment planning, treatment coordination, crisis intervention, and consultation.
  • Skill in maintaining confidentiality of clients' records in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Skill in routine medical charting.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in provision of clinical supervision.
  • Skill in program development and consultation.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Skill in educational design and presentation delivery.
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting deadlines.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

    Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

    Non-supervisory- Three (3) year of clinical social work experience delivering direct behavioral health care

    in a behavioral health clinic or hospital setting.

    MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

  • Current State of Alaska Clinical License (LCSW)
  • Current Basic Life Support Provider
  • Meets all requirements to obtain medical staff membership and required privileges of services.
  • Ability to obtain State of Alaska Clinical Licensure in Social Work within three (3) years of hire.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

  • Completion of post-graduate clinical social work training hours.
  • Two (2) years of post-graduate supervised clinical social work experience.
  • Experience in the Alaska Tribal Health System.
  • Experience working with Telehealth technology
  • Experience providing culturally minded assessments and interventions.
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • State of Alaska License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) required within three (3) years of hire.
  • Depending on the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional certifications or training in one or more specialty areas.
