Auditor Position

The Dougherty County Tax & Tag Department is hiring for an Auditor. The purpose of this position is to audit business records in accordance with the guidelines of the Georgia Revenue Code. Perform audits of personal property tax returns.

This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Essential tasks include :

• Analyze and perform audits of personal property tax returns and supporting documentation to calculate the appraised and assessed value of tangible assets.
• Process personal property returns.
• Respond to questions about the valuation of personal property.
• Write letters and reports of audit findings; recommend appropriate actions.
• Research businesses that did not file a personal property return or pay taxes to ensure that taxes due are collected.
• Conduct field checks and canvas mobile home parks and businesses.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

Special Certifications And Licenses :

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
