Delivery Team Manager

Shift : 3AM -12PM
Salary : 120K-130K DOE
Responsible for maintaining a fully staffed and fully trained delivery team that runs well, meets metrics consistently, is always compliant, provides high levels of service and consistently performs.
Hiring all team members, ensuring all pre-employment checks are completed and meet requirements, coordination of new hire paperwork, scheduling New Hire Training, monitoring completion of training, coaching where needed, review of new hires to ensure meet requirements of 90-day training period, formal meeting to review 90-day performance and determine if pass training period.
Reviews delivery metrics on a daily / weekly basis : customer service / delivery execution, payroll % sales, miles per delivery, planned v actual. Looks for improvements in scheduling and routing that positively impact metrics and dollars spent.
Monitor Driver hours daily so that all drivers and routes stay in compliance with FMCSR and DOT regulations. Collaborate with Delivery Management to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local DOT guidelines. In addition, confirm that :
All employee files are current and include driver training, road test drivers check list, annual evaluations, abstracts, driver history, etc.
All required Driver training and education is provided and documented in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Drive Samsara corrective actions needed.
Monitor CSA scores for location.
Maintain DOT Accident Register
Monitor Samsara.
Owns Driver rehire process.
Maintain up to date payroll / time records on a daily basis; adjusting time records as needed, holding teams accountable for clocking in and out; temp scanning, keeps record of any extra hours, extra pay and creates the daily payroll sheet for approval by GM.
Lead Delivery Safety Committee works with team to review safety concerns, develop new processes to reduce risk, trains employees on Safety topics, works closely with Corporate Safety team to drive culture of safety and engage employees in safety.
Overview of truck accidents, working with insurance company and Fleet Safety Manager to get trucks repaired and back on the road as quickly as possible.
Owns Delivery team retention / turnover ensures regular touch base with employees, regular communication, engagement activities, incentives, and develops strong employee relations.
May preside or assist in the preparation of various audits : Regulatory Federal, State, Third party, and direct company audit / inspections.
Conducts Monthly check-in with each driver, debriefing as necessary and consolidating issues and suggestions. Creates plans to "solve for" the lead concerns for Drivers.
Owns the Junior Training Program for the location, decision maker regarding participants in program, conducting 15 / 25 / 40-day check-ins with Junior Driver and conducting the final certification for graduation from the program. Works closely with Fleet Safety Manager re this program helping to build a new group of Drivers.
Creates daily / weekly / monthly communication plans for Delivery team. Creates communication mechanisms that work and keep Delivery team in the loop.
Creates and communicates program to ensure 100% EPOD Compliance. The management team drives day-to-day compliance, coaching and corrective action.
Daily, weekly monthly management of the entire delivery operation. Regular touch bases to ensure management team on the same page and working towards the same goals.
Quarterly review of revenue and business with GM. Creates Staffing Plans to match the business needs. Creates Requisitions for open / new roles. Regular contact with Staffing team to ensure fully staffed.
Qualification Skills :
Demonstrated ability to build, train, engage and lead large teams.
A minimum of 7 years in fleet supervisory / transportation role
DOT Compliance : FMCSR, DOT
Knowledge food regulation; Food safety
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prepare reports and maintain department policies and procedures.
Proficient in Microsoft Word / Excel / Outlook / Tech Savvy (Samsara, First Advantage, EPOD, etc.)
Requirements :
From time to time, this position will be expected to accompany a delivery team on a route, and is expected to meet the following requirements :
The ability to lift 25 / 50 pounds regularly.
The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
Ability to see well at night and drive in the dark
21 years of age or older
7+ years in Delivery Management role
Must be able to work nights and weekends as dictated by the business.
Note expected schedule is likely 3AM Start.
Food Authority currently makes deliveries Sunday Night through Friday Night
If driving-
Drivers must be 21 years of age.
Drivers must have a minimum of 1 year's driving experience in the last 3 years.
Drivers must have a current drivers' license and current DOT medical card.
No more than two (2) minor moving violation in 36 months (see below)
No more than 1 accident in the last 36 months (about 3 years)
No major violations in the last 36 months (see below)
No more than 1 suspension related to driving performance in the last 36 months (about 3 years)
