Job Title : Structural Engineer
Work Location : Grand Rivers, KY (Kentucky Lock Dam)
Salary : Based on experience and will be discussed with the manager during interview.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Provide professional structural engineering and construction management support, serving as a general engineer and providing technical leadership for contractor-executed construction projects.
- Serve as the organizational subject matter expert on national standards and practices for structural engineering designs, foundation analysis of dams and lock structures, bridges, and roads.
- Review as-built drawings and reply to RFI requests.
- Perform quality-assurance inspections, structural fabrication inspections, and documentation review from a structural engineering perspective.
- Review construction lift plans involving cranes and rigging.
- Review contractor claims.
- Provide safety oversight, document such oversight, and direct corrective actions to ensure worker and public safety.
- Assist in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor structural engineering requirements and deliverables; document and provide reports on contractor progress.
- Recommend authorization of progress payments based on observed contract progress.
Education / Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.10 years of experience as a structural engineer on large complex multimillion-dollar federal construction projects.Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.Experience with lock, dam, and / or levee construction preferred.Demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction with an emphasis on structural concrete, rebar, and formwork.Experience with design and monitoring shop fabrication of welded steel structures.Physical Requirements
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.Ability to lift 50 pounds.Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and / or quantitative productivity standards.The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.Seniority level
