Position Summary
The Field Service Engineer I (FSE I) provides installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for a variety of medical and industrial systems.
You’ll serve as the front-line representative of Quest, working directly with customers to ensure their equipment runs safely and efficiently.
This hands-on, travel-based position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, learning new technologies, and working in different environments — from hospitals to industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities
Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair medical and industrial equipment.
Troubleshoot complex systems to the FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) level using digital diagnostic tools.
Accurately document service activities, maintenance reports, and expenses.
Provide remote and on-site technical support for customers and internal teams.
Create and update technical documentation, bulletins, and service procedures.
Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and plan regional travel independently.
Maintain compliance with Quest’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
Ensure all work meets safety, regulatory, and customer credentialing standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.
Requirements Essential Requirements
High school diploma or GED required (technical training, military, or equivalent experience preferred).
2+ years of hands-on experience in field service, maintenance, or repair roles.
Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, electronics, and troubleshooting techniques.
Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters, frequency counters, and vacuum / pressure meters.
Ability to interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
Self-directed with the ability to manage multiple service calls and travel logistics.
Must have a valid driver’s license , reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs , bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and stand for extended periods.
Willingness to travel regionally ( up to 75–80% ) with occasional overnight stays.
Must pass a background check, drug screening , and comply with hospital / vendor credentialing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with medical imaging, optical, or laboratory systems.
Knowledge of A / V systems, control systems, and digital signal processors (DSPs).
Basic IT / networking experience (Active Directory, PowerShell, SQL, Wi-Fi 802.11).
CompTIA A+ or other relevant technical certifications.
Prior military electronics or technical training highly desirable.
