ERM is seeking an experienced Managing Consultant, Environmental Permitting Project Manager with demonstrated experience permitting capital projects in New England and New York . The ideal candidate will have experience with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, New England General Permits, and local land development regulations across the Northeast. Technical expertise leading multi-media environmental permitting efforts under state agencies and supporting large-scale capital expansion projects in the energy sector is required; renewable energy permitting experience is a plus.
As a senior leader, you will be fully accountable for consulting on permitting-related project work to support ERM's team in the Northeast and network with ERM's global technical team to share best practices across the industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the business development of ERM's full range of Impact Assessment and Permitting services, including identifying and developing new opportunities, preparing technical proposals, and driving client engagement to generate repeat business.
Serve as Senior Technical Advisor for permitting-related activities supporting ERM clients' capital projects (e.g., renewable energy, electric and gas utilities); lead the strategic planning and preparation of permit packages and act as subject matter expert and QA / QC lead.
Manage large, complex capital development projects to achieve client expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
Lead, manage, hire, and mentor the technical team to promote performance and growth.
Deepen relationships with ERM's key clients and establish new client relationships that result in business growth.
Support the development of ERM's IAP technical community by collaborating with global practitioners on impact assessment projects.
REQUIREMENTS
BS / MS in environmental studies, natural resources-related science, planning, geography, civil or environmental engineering, or related field; PWS, PE, CEP, AICP or similar registration desired.
4–6+ years of consulting experience with state / local agencies and multi-media permitting.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships and to close new permitting consulting services.
Solid grasp of impact assessment and environmental permitting requirements in the power and oil / gas sectors, with high technical competence and broad knowledge.
Strong team-building and influencing skills, and a proven track record in meeting client and business needs.

Compensation : For the Managing Consultant, Environmental Permitting Project Manager (Senior Level) position, the annual base pay ranges from $87,316 to $101,602 (USD) depending on qualifications and experience. Employee pay is based on education, certifications, experience, geographic location, performance, and business needs. Bonus eligibility may vary and is outlined in detail on the application portal.
