Senior Instrumentation / Electrical Design Engineer
The ECI Group has an immediate need for an experienced and knowledgeable Senior Instrumentation / Electrical Design Engineer to develop control and instrumentation designs for our petrochemical (including LDPE) and advanced recycling business lines. This position can be filled in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Manchester, England; or Shanghai, China offices.
Overview
Essential instrumentation and electrical design functions for projects in oil & gas, petrochemical and / or plastics plants, with responsibilities spanning design deliverables, analysis, and field support.
Responsibilities
- Instrumentation : Coordinate and execute instrumentation design and engineering deliverables with instrument designer(s) and / or junior engineer(s); read and develop Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs); prepare instrumentation specifications and construction documents including network communication architectures, loop diagrams, SIS and DCS Cause & Effect and Binary Logic diagrams, control panel details, junction box wiring diagrams, instrument installation details, instrument datasheets, instrument calculations, instrument plot plans, and control room design.
- Electrical : Coordinate and execute electrical design and engineering deliverables with Electrical designer(s) and junior engineer(s); design plant power distribution and prepare one-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, equipment layouts, lighting, grounding, installation details, electrical equipment specifications (power panels, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, substations, motors).
- Power Systems Analysis : Model and conduct power systems analysis (short circuit, load flow, protective relay coordination and arc flash analysis).
- Combined Functions : Develop detailed design documents for new assignments; review and evaluate equipment vendor information; participate in FAT and SAT activities; participate in field investigations and provide construction support; respond to field information requests; review supplier technical quotes and prepare technical bid analyses; update inquiry documents to order; attend / run post-order kickoff meetings; review supplier design documents and coordinate with equipment supplier; travel to witness inspections; attend kickoff meetings or client sites.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is requiredChartered Engineer (UK) or Licensed Professional Electrical or Control Systems Engineer in Louisiana and Texas (US)7-10+ years of related experience in engineering design of oil & gas, petrochemical and / or plastics plantsStrong preference for applicants with in-depth polyolefin plant experience, including design and operational rolesMust be able and willing to travel to off-site locations and / or accept client site assignments when requiredDetail-oriented with strong analytical skillsGeneral understanding of cradle-to-grave EPC project workflow, interdepartmental dependencies, and TIC importanceAbility to work as part of a close-knit small core team or independently with initiativeOccasional international travelExperience with plant commissioning, start-up and operational troubleshooting encouragedMust be a citizen or legally authorized to work in US, UK or China without sponsorshipSeniority level
