This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

Responsibilities

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be responsible for training the teams responsible for preparing and maintaining the reusable New Shepard launch vehicle and operating / maintaining the New Shepard launch site infrastructure and ground equipment.

You will define training requirements and strategy, plan and implement the training to meet requirements, and evaluate proficiency and currency.

You will support sustainment of existing training resources and courses, adapting for future changes. The training program is critical to ensuring consistent, repeatable, and reliable crew operations.

Van Horn Specific information

Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employees additional attractive financial incentives to supplement base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee's ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Define, develop, and conduct on-the-job training, hands-on training with mockups, simulations, and classroom training.

Develop specialty courses of instruction for identified needs, working with a wide variety of individuals while researching courses.

Develop training manuals and other technical documents to support training and operations.

Evaluate crew proficiency and currency for maintenance operations; develop makeup training and other training mitigation plans as needed.

Implement (publish, assign, maintain, update) training content materials with training team / SMEs using Learning Management Systems, ticketing systems, wikis, websites, and shared folders.

Maintain accurate, auditable records of crew training completion.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of a B.S in engineering, or equivalent.

Ability to travel at least 25% of the time.

5 years of experience in defining, developing, validating, and implementing technical training for engineers and technicians working in a high technology, safety critical operational environment.

Experience writing technical training course materials (lesson objectives and plans, evaluation criteria, hands-on training activities).

Experience authoring training plans, maintenance and operations manuals, and other technical documents.

Experience with Articulate Storyline or similar.

Engineering and / or operational experience with complex aerospace systems such as hydraulics, avionics, propulsion, cryogenics, life support systems, or high-pressure pneumatics.

Excellent computer skills with ability to learn flight hardware / scripting procedures and associated tools, including ability to rapidly learn and apply new software tools as required.

Self-starter with strong coordination and project management skills. Must be able to initiate, track, manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks and jobs.

A proven track record of working successfully with a multi-disciplinary team and building strong working relationships within the organization and across multiple groups.

Preferred Qualifications

7+ years of experience

Experience in developing video content (camera equipment, lighting, Adobe Premiere / Creative Cloud, Camtasia, etc.)

Previous experience as a Maintenance or Test Engineer in aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, nuclear energy, or a similar high-tech, safety critical environment.

Hands-on experience with hazardous testing with a strong safety record.

Compensation Range for : WA applicants is $100,997.00-$141,395.10
