Position : Perinatal Educator (RN) – Family Birthplace
Facility : BMC (Family Birthplace Unit)
Schedule : 7 : 00 a.m. – 7 : 30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement and deliver education and training programs for nursing staff, with a specific emphasis on OR circulating activities during C-section procedures.Provide direct teaching, simulation, competency assessment and coaching for staff working in the OR environment and the Family Birthplace.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (obstetrics, anesthesiology, neonatal, OR nursing, clinical education) to ensure integrated care practices and workflow efficiency.Monitor and evaluate staff competency, identify gaps in knowledge or skills related to OR circulation and cesarean care, and implement remediation plans.Review, update and maintain policies, protocols and standard work associated with OR circulation and cesarean care in collaboration with leadership.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection and performance metrics related to perinatal outcomes, OR efficiency, patient safety, and clinical best practices.Serve as a resource and mentor for new or transitioning staff, helping to build a strong culture of continuous learning and high-reliability perinatal care.Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge, participate in professional development, and ensure alignment with regulatory, accreditation and hospital standards.Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.Minimum 3 years’ experience preferred — specifically in the perinatal / obstetrics field and with experience in OR circulation for C-sections.Demonstrated experience as a nurse educator or equivalent teaching / training role.Strong clinical background in obstetrics, labor & delivery and OR settings; specifically proficient in OR circulating responsibilities (vs. general L&D only).Excellent communication, presentation and mentoring skills, with a passion for adult learning and clinical education.Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and drive change in clinical practice.Comfortable working the specified shift (7 a.m.–7 : 30 p.m.) and supporting staff during procedural times.Preferred : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.Relevant certifications : BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) as applicable.Strong organizational, analytical and project-management skills (for education initiatives and competency tracking).Why This Role?
