Job descriptionDesign and refine production processes for consistency, repeatability, and scalability. Implement process control methodologies (e.g., SPC, Six Sigma, DOE). Develop SOPs, work instructions, and quality documentation for foil manufacturing. Investigate and resolve process-related issues with a focus on root cause analysis. Oversee daily foil production operations, ensuring quality, throughput, and yield targets are met. Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment and process bottlenecks. Train operators and technicians on new procedures and equipment. Monitor and document KPIs, conducting periodic audits and continuous improvement initiatives. Bachelors or Masters degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 2+ years experience in thin metal processing, materials development, or foil production (indium preferred, but not required). Experience with metallurgical equipment (rolling mills, furnaces, cutting / slitting machines). Strong understanding of metallurgy, crystallography, and metal deformation behavior. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Proficient in data analysis tools (Excel, JMP, Minitab, etc.). Hands-on experience with indium or other soft, ductile metals (e.g., gold, tin, silver). Knowledge of vacuum or cleanroom processes. Experience in scaling up R&D processes to production. Understanding of supply chain and raw material sourcing for specialty metals.
