Painting Estimator & Sales (Residential + Commercial)

Role Summary
You’ll own the full sales-and-estimating cycle : qualify leads, perform site walks, produce accurate takeoffs and scopes, present proposals, win work at target margins, and hand off cleanly to production. Success looks like happy clients, accurate estimates, strong close rates, and protected margins .
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Care
Respond to inbound leads, qualify, schedule, and conduct on-site appointments (homes, multi-family, light commercial).
Build trust quickly; educate clients on options, coatings, prep standards, and timelines.
Present written proposals, handle objections, and close at or above target gross margin.
Maintain disciplined follow-ups (calls, texts, email sequences) until decision.
Estimating & Scoping
Measure interiors / exteriors (laser / Disto, tape, wheel) and document conditions (substrate, access, repairs).
Create detailed takeoffs for : interior / exterior repaint, cabinets, decks / fences, stucco / CMU, metal, epoxy / urethane, specialty coatings.
Write clear Scopes of Work (prep standards, masking, repairs, coatings system, exclusions).
Build itemized estimates (labor, materials, equipment, lift / staging, waste, travel, permits) with production rates.
Price change orders and value-engineer options when needed.
Regularly collaborate with the production team on production rate variances to adjust as needed for quality estimates in line with active production rates for consistent accurate pricing.
Handoff & Pipeline
Create a clean turnover packet for production (photos, notes, colors, sheens, SKUs, access, schedule, constraints).
Forecast and report weekly : pipeline value, close rate, booked revenue, margins, and start dates in Drip Jobs CRM.
Maintain accurate records in Drip Jobs - CRM / estimating software; keep job statuses current.
Market & Brand
Represent the brand professionally on site and online (reviews, referrals, neighborhood awareness).
Nurture GC / PM / property manager relationships; mine existing accounts for add-on work.
Required Qualifications
3+ years in painting estimating or closely related trades (GC, drywall, coatings, facilities).
Strong knowledge of prep standards, substrates, and coatings (latex, alkyd, urethane / 2K, cabinet finishes).
Proficient with CRM (Drip Jobs) and spreadsheets ; able to read plans and use digital takeoff (Bluebeam / PlanSwift a plus).
Excellent communication and closing skills; organized and reliable with follow-through.
Valid driver’s license, clean driving record; comfortable working on active job sites.
Ability to lift / move ladders and conduct roof / exterior walks safely. OSHA-10 preferred.
Nice-to-Haves
NACE / SSPC knowledge, cabinet finishing experience, multi-family / commercial repaint background.
Local vendor relationships (Sherwin-Williams / Ben Moore / PPG).
Bilingual (English / Spanish).
Tools & Tech We Use
iPad / phone, laser measurer, moisture meter, measuring wheel.
CRM + estimating templates; cloud photo notes; e-signature proposals.
Production rate libraries and standardized SOW templates.
Performance Metrics (your scoreboard)
Close Rate : ≥ 35–45% overall (higher on residential).
Gross Margin on Sold Work : at / above target (e.g., 45–55% depending on scope).
Estimate Accuracy : ±5–8% of actual labor hours on average.
Sales Velocity : lead → proposal ≤ 48–72 hours; proposal → decision ≤ 7–10 days.
Booked Revenue : monthly quota agreed with leadership.
Client Satisfaction : reviews, referrals, repeat work.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary : $55,000–$75,000 DOE
Vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement, company phone / iPad.
Schedule & Travel
Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays for homeowner appointments.
Daily regional travel across Gainesville and nearby markets.
30–60–90 Day Plan
30 Days : Learn pricing model, production rates, CRM; ride-alongs; begin quoting small jobs.
60 Days : Own full appointment → estimate → close cycle; achieve target quote count weekly.
90 Days : Hit close-rate and margin goals; manage full pipeline independently; drive reviews / referrals.
