Lab Assistant I

Pride Health is hiring a phlebotomist to support our client’s medical facility based in Agoura Hills, CA 91301, USA This is a 3 -month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Job Title : Lab Assistant I

Location : Agoura Hills, CA 91301, USA

Duration : 3 Months+

Pay rate : $18-$19

Schedule : Tuesday - Saturday; 3rd shift @10pm - 6 : 30AM; 3rd shift

A Lab Assistant will be working in a high volume, production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.

Essential Job Duties :

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Scan and / or data entry of specimen and patient information.
• Sort specimens into their appropriate department or hamilton pipetting.
• Assists with loading and unloading of specimens on the Hamilton pipetting platform including capping and uncapping samples, labeling aliquot tubes, pulling errors, and sorting aliquots.
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
• Returns specimens to appropriate locations.
• Performs discard and relocation of specimen racks.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Adhere to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
• Documents all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job-related duties requested by department management.

Requirements : High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift up to 15lbs. Flexibility to work overtime as needed. Strong communication skills; both written and verbal. Ability to sit and / or stand for extended periods of time. Must pass a standardized color blindness test.

Required Work Experience : Previous medical / lab or production experience is preferred. Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills preferred.

Working Conditions : This is a fast-paced production environment that has established turn-around times. Employee will be handling biological specimens with a potential of being exposed to blood borne pathogens.
