The primary focus of this position will be building / improving electrical control systems within the Manufacturing Design Engineering team. In addition, there will be some amount of machine controls depending on bandwidth and interest.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the development of a high-volume production system, from early process feasibility studies to production at a greenfield site
- Assist in development of Equipment Development Standards and templates to drive hardware / software standardization across factory
- Work with external integrators to deliver equipment that meets company standards
- Design power distribution, control panel to meet NFPA79, IEC 60204-1 UL 508A standards.
- Design functional safety circuit to meet ISO 13849-1.
- Provide machine design feedback from an electrical / controls and machine / operator safety perspective and drive implementation with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, Archer standards, equipment specification, and pass field labeling.
- Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new equipment and tooling with integrators
- Develop, deploy and validate MES interface to equipment
- Build from scratch as well as improve HMIs on ignition V8 perspective
- Support in-line troubleshooting in electrical systems, control panel, field electrical device, and safety interlock circuit issues.
- Develop handoff packages for production / sustaining engineering teams
- Support efforts for continuous improvements by identifying ways to improve quality, throughput, and reduce cost
- Support small scale buck and prototype builds
- Specify / select controls, safety hardware and program all devices for prototype lines / internally developed equipment
What You Need
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or similar with 2-5+ years of experienceHands-on experience as a Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Applications Engineer or Equipment Engineer working on automation and / or electromechanical systemsKnowledge of Electrical Standards (NFPA79, NEC, UL508A)Knowledge of Safety Standards (ANSI / RIA15.06, OSHA)Proficiency in developing pneumatic and electrical schematics in E-Plan / AutoCAD Electrical, to design electrical control panels, power distribution, controls system cabling / wiring and instrumentation.Demonstrated understanding of industrial communication protocolsExperience programming cyclic execution devices such PLCs (Allen-Bradley / Siemens / Beckhoff)Experience programming per ISA-88 standardExperience programming cartesian, SCARA, articulated robots (Fanuc / Kuka / ABB)Experience programming vision systems (iRVision / Cognex / Keyence)Experience programming HMI, GUI, SCADA (Ignition V8 Perspective)Experience working with database systems such SQL and integrating them with PLC / DAQExperience integrating PLC / MES systems and MES workflow developmentExperience selecting industrial control hardware such as circuit protection, drive systems, feedback devices, data collection devices, safety devices, etc.Experience integrating / setting up / using a wide variety of industrial equipment such as dispense systems, torque tools, power transducers, etc.Excellent logical-thinkingSelf-driven / hands on attitudeBe able to travel domestically / internationally 20% of the time.Bonus Qualifications
