Job Summary :
- Possesses a broad range of working knowledge related to the operation and maintenance of pumps, turbines, and other rotating equipment, as well as related industry codes / standards / regulations in support of a multi-unit power plant and carbon capture facility. Also knowledgeable in the areas of valves, piping, heat exchangers, gearboxes, lubrication systems and other balance of plant equipment found in a power plant setting.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
Provides a high level of support to power plant operations and maintenance personnel.Performs field inspections, field measurements and equipment walk downs.Familiar with machining processes and repair methods.Makes recommendations based on data collected.Prepares written reports in assigned area of responsibility.Participates in or lead teams that focus on specific problem areas or needs for generation units (e.g. Root Cause Analysis).Coordinates or oversees activities with Vendors / Contractors or outside support groups..Recognizes problems and is proactive, using independent judgment to provide solutions.Prepares outage inspection plans.Analyzes equipment failure data and makes recommendations to address failures.Develops and manages projects to address failures.Develops equipment disassembly / clean / inspect and repair documentation.Develops specifications and scope of work documents.Possesses a good understanding of work planning and scheduling.Coordinates and manages inspection, modification and upgrade projects in area of specialization.Possesses detailed knowledge of power plant systems and equipment in area of specialization.Organizes and interprets data collected in the plant to make recommendations based on findings.Has experience in testing, inspection and development / implementation of technical solutions of in-service power generation components.Maintains accurate, up-to-date condition assessment databases using computer operating systems.Performs maintenance analysis studies, develop and analyze data bases, and prepare reports with recommendations.Evaluates condition assessment activities to identify and implement improved processes.Working Conditions :
Normal office environment and / or out of doors work environment. (Including working at heights, high / low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations)Requires operation of a motor vehicle; Texas Driver's LicenseRequires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipmentWorks overtime and non-standard working hours as requiredRequires occasional travel.Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)Requires performing duties around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicalsRequires operation of a personal computerMinimum Requirements :
Minimum of 2 years technical degree at an accredited university or technical institute and 10 years of experience in power generation maintenance or technical support, OR 12 years of experience power generation maintenance or technical support, OR Minimum of 4 year Engineering Degree and 5 years of experience in power generation or technical supportPreferred Qualifications :
Technical knowledge and background and experience in various forms of power plant rotating equipment.Knowledge managing projects and personnel external to the companyAdditional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
