Estimator II – Light Industrial & Design-Build Projects

Locations : Austin, TX | Kansas City, KS | Dallas, TX | Jacksonville, FL

We’re looking for an experienced Estimator II with a strong background in light industrial and design-build construction. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex estimates, contribute to strategic preconstruction efforts, and collaborate with a team that values accuracy, innovation, and professional growth.

What You’ll Do

The Estimator II plays a key role in developing detailed and competitive cost estimates from conceptual through final pricing. You’ll work hands-on with design documents, subcontractor bids, and project teams to ensure scope, cost, and risk are thoroughly evaluated and clearly communicated.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and coordinate estimates for assigned scopes from concept through GMP and final pricing.

Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify cost drivers, gaps, and constructability considerations.

Scope and tabulate subcontractor proposals to confirm alignment with project requirements and ensure complete coverage.

Collaborate with preconstruction and operations teams on risk assessments, schedule alignment, and value engineering options.

Implement quality control processes to ensure estimating accuracy and consistency.

Gather, analyze, and maintain cost data to support future bids and updates to internal databases.

Clearly communicate scope, pricing rationale, and assumptions to internal stakeholders and clients.

Participate in project handoff meetings and post-project reviews to drive continuous improvement.

Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, vendors, and peers across the industry.

Technical Skills & Competencies

Proven ability to estimate architectural, structural, civil, and MEP systems.

Skilled in quantity takeoff, cost analysis, bid tabulation, and document interpretation.

Working knowledge of scheduling, constructability reviews, and preconstruction services.

Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication; able to present technical information clearly.

Committed to collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development.

Qualifications

4+ years of estimating experience, preferably in light industrial and design-build projects.

Field experience strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Additional Information

This position involves moderate physical activity, including sitting, walking, standing, or lifting up to 50 lbs. Occasional travel may be required.
