WindWright, a subsidiary of Stratolaunch, accelerates hypersonic development by improving the capacity and capabilities of ground test facilities using digital engineering environments. Our advanced modeling and simulation, synthesized with ground and flight test data, are integrated into authoritative digital models that advance ground test productivity, accuracy, and repeatability improvements across the full customer development campaign. WindWright's digital engineering framework also enables efficient test planning, rapid test data review, and deeper analysis of the test results, leading to reduced customer costs and risks.

In this role, you will serve as the technical lead for instrumentation and control systems at WindWright. Your responsibilities will include setting the overall technical direction and approach for I&C projects, creating documentation and review norms to enable success for I&C team, and developing a robust, rigorous build and test process to ensure instrumentation and control systems perform as intended.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and shape the technical approach for instrumentation and control systems projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and requirements
  • Develop and deploy processes for I&C system design, implementation, testing, and documentation
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop and maintain I&C system requirements
  • Decompose top level I&C system requirements into hardware and software requirements
  • Assist in the design and layout of I&C system hardware
  • Assist in the architecture and programming of control system software
  • Create and execute test plans for software, bench, and integrated testing to ensure I&C systems meet design specifications and safety requirements
  • Review and provide feedback on design documents, schematics, code, and test results
  • Analyze facility operations data to characterize control effectiveness and identify anomalies
  • Manage supplier teams supporting instrumentation and controls efforts
  • Support the preparation of business proposals to the US Government and industry
  • Travel, as needed, to support the company
  • Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments

Required Qualifications :

  • Deep expertise in control systems design, development, and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of V&V methodologies and best practices.
  • Proficiency in hardware design and software development for control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance at the TS / SCI level
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience designing, building, and testing PLC-based control systems
  • Experience developing real-time operating system (RTOS) based control systems
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with ground or flight test operations
  • Active TS / SCI security clearance
  • Required Computer Skills :

  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software tools
  • Controls software languages (C, LabVIEW, VxWorks, or similar)
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Education / experience / certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in control systems engineering, with a focus on technical leadership and project delivery.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
