American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring an active OR RN license and proficiency with ventilator and pressor management.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care ICU within a hospital settingGeneral medical / surgical critical care population, including STEMI, PNA, COVID, DKA, CVA, ETOH, and overdose casesTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2, with occasional 1 : 1 or higher ratios when covering overflow patientsWill float between ICU and PCU, and may care for PCU and Med / Surg overflow within ICU12-hour night shifts with variable scheduling based on unit needsEvery other weekend and holiday coverage requiredNo on-call or standby requirementUtilizes devices such as vents, V60, BiPap, Cpap, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)Central Monitoring Unit staff and monitor tech support 24 / 7; RNs read strips and confirm measurementsEpic EMR system is used for chartingPrimary duties include management of critically ill patients and titration of vasoactive medicationsCharge nurse is present on the unit and takes patientsHospitalist available in-house 24 / 7; intensivist available by pageRespiratory therapy present in ICU 24 / 7Orientation provided based on previous experience and familiarity with the hospitalClean, professional attire required; no specific scrub colorFirst-time travelers are welcome if they meet experience requirementsHoliday coverage will be needed as scheduledHousing with pets may be difficult to secure in the area\n \n Requirements\n
Active OR RN license in hand requiredBLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum 1 year of ICU RN experience required; 2.5-3 years strongly preferredExperience with ventilator and pressor management requiredPreferred experience with Impella and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)Ability to titrate drips such as Precedex, insulin, epi, norepi, and propofolMust be able to float to PCU and care for overflow patientsNo BSN required for consideration\n Benefits\n
