American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry Float Pool position in an acute care setting, requiring a WA or compact RN license and at least two years of experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in an acute care hospital environment on a Med / Surg Telemetry Float Pool32-bed unit with a patient ratio of 5 : 1, which may increase to 6 : 1 during inpatient boardingPatient population includes CHF, COPD, cellulitis, ETOH withdrawal, kidney issues, dementia, and CVACare involves telemetry monitoring and nurses are responsible for reviewing rhythm stripsCommon drips include heparin, cardizem, insulin (not DKA protocol), and narcotics for comfortNo ventilator patients in this unit12-hour night shifts from 7 : 00 pm to 7 : 30 am, with every other weekend requiredFloating required to all Med Surg, PCU, ED boarding, and temporary bed locations unitsEpic EMR used; Epic training providedSupport staff includes charge nurses and 4-5 nurse aides per shiftFloor-specific orientation is providedCamera monitoring is used for close patient observationResponsibilities include managing acute med / surg telemetry patients and administering medications including specific dripsTeam includes in-house hospitalists / intensivists, 24 / 7 RT and pharmacy support, and IV team assistanceProfessional scrub colors, patterns, and styles permittedHoliday coverage is expected as scheduledFloor-specific orientation and Epic training are provided to support transitionCandidates may not have been directly employed (FT / PT / PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past yearFirst-time travelers are considered for this role\n \n Requirements\n
Current WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years recent RN experience requiredActive BLS and ACLS certifications requiredNIHSS certification preferred but not requiredAbility to interpret telemetry rhythm strips is requiredReferences must include one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last three years with employment dates and rehire eligibilityCopy of driver’s license required for consideration\n Benefits\n
