Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrician with a minimum of three (3) years of verifiable experience specifically in commercial and industrial settings. The ideal candidate will be proficient in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical systems, equipment, and wiring while ensuring all work strictly adheres to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, work independently, and mentor apprentice electricians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

The primary responsibilities of this role focus on high-voltage and complex systems typical of commercial and industrial environments, which may include :

  • Installation : Install, assemble, and test new electrical wiring, conduit (EMT, Rigid, PVC), equipment, components, fixtures, and control systems (e.g., lighting, power, motor control centers) in commercial buildings, plants, or manufacturing facilities.
  • Maintenance & Repair : Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on existing electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, motors, and high-voltage distribution systems (up to 480V, as needed).
  • Troubleshooting : Diagnose and correct complex electrical problems in a timely manner using advanced testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters, thermal imaging cameras) to minimize downtime.
  • Blueprint Interpretation : Accurately read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to determine project layouts, material needs, and code requirements.
  • Industrial Specialization : Work with industrial controls, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) , Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and motor control circuits; install and maintain heavy-duty machinery and related power feeders.
  • Safety : Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhere to Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and proactively identify and report safety hazards.
  • Mentorship : Direct and instruct apprentices or helpers in the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on, documented experience as a licensed Journeyman or equivalent in commercial and industrial electrical work.
  • Successful completion of a formal apprenticeship program or vocational school training in the electrical trade is highly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

    • Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

    • Required Skills

  • Must be willing to travel within NC
  • Must be willing to work night shifts
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, and applicable industry standards.
  • Proficiency in running and bending various types of conduit (e.g., EMT, Rigid, PVC).
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex electrical systems.
  • Excellent color vision and manual dexterity for wiring and component installation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with project managers, clients, and team members.
  • Must be able to work at heights (ladders, lifts, scaffolds) and in confined spaces.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform demanding physical tasks.
