Position Summary
The Outreach and Engagement Specialist is part of the team that will help build the Center for Educator Excellence. The Outreach & Engagement Specialist will leverage identified Education and Training CTE high school students in 17 districts across Tarrant County and local community colleges to provide targeted prospective student-to-teacher candidate recruitment.
The Outreach and Engagement Specialist is responsible for recruitment and admission of freshman and transfer students from Tarrant County and surrounding towns/cities to Texas Wesleyan. Primary duties include recruiting students, work closely with prospective new students and parents in the support of the transition to Texas Wesleyan University. The Specialist builds relationships with high schools to increase college credit enrollment by assessing the needs of off-campus high school students and school districts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Serves as the liaison between Texas Wesleyan University and high schools and community colleges in the Tarrant County and surrounding towns/cities to Texas Wesleyan.· Provides input in the development of recruitment activities for high school and transfer students.· Provides weekly, monthly and year-end reports on territory activity (including prospect and applicant reports).· Visit and coordinate information exchange with high school and community college counselors.· Give admissions-related presentations to tour groups, school groups, and prospective students.· Plans and implements orientation activities for high school and transfer students. · In cooperation with the Dean of Education and the Vice President of Enrollment Management, generates and maintains Memoranda of Understanding with high school(s), school districts, and external constituents. · Contributes to the achievement of the University’s recruitment and retention goals by collaborating with the offices of admission, registration, and student life, encouraging dual credit students to matriculate as undergraduate students.· Works cooperatively with the offices of Admission and Marketing and Communications staff to develop and implement effective recruitment and marketing strategies related to the dual credit program and enrollment partnerships, including assistance with web content, preparation of publications, distribution of brochures and catalogs, school visits, etc.
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses Bachelor’s degree in Education or related fields required;
Master Degree preferred Experience Previous admission or related experience preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated administrative ability to plan and execute programs and activities, to secure cooperation from individuals and organizations, and to coordinate the activities of such individuals and organizations.
Proficiency with an integrated administrative system and current computer software programs.
