The Greater Los Angeles (GLA) VA Healthcare System's Mental Health Service is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide psycho-diagnostic services and therapeutic interventions. As a multidisciplinary team member, you will deliver excellent inpatient services by providing coordinated, integrated, rehabilitative, and restorative mental health care to help Veterans achieve and maintain the highest level of functioning and independence.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for medically ill veterans.
- Evaluate and develop appropriate care plans tailored to each patient.
- Provide psychiatric interventions, including pharmacotherapy and individual, family, and group psychotherapies.
- Execute direct in-person assessments and treatments.
- Offer diagnostic clarification and liaise between medical / surgical providers and other mental health providers.
- Participate in same-day evaluations and emergent mental health situations.
- Collaborate with clients and families to establish goals and activities, considering physical, mental, and environmental factors.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Prescribe, administer, and evaluate responses to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
- Educate and counsel veterans and their families on preventive care and medical conditions.
- Manage mental health diagnoses with a focus on preventive health care and screening.
- Supervise psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner residents.
- Participate in huddles for informal consultation and team education.
- Serve as a key communicator and liaison within the hospital's mental health and medical teams.
Work Schedule : Monday – Friday, 8 : 00 am-4 : 30pm
Qualifications :
Must be a U.S. CitizenMaster’s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from ACEN or CCNE Accredited programMust possess a current, full, and PMHNP unrestricted licenseMust have BLS CertificationPreferred not required :Two years of PMHNP experience
