Staff Test and Validation Engineer, Drive Unit Test and Validation – Newark, CA

Responsibilities
- Lead and spearhead test methodologies : take ownership of developing and driving the adoption of new and advanced test methodologies that align with product development and innovation goals.
- Test plan development and execution : lead the creation and execution of test plans (DVP, PVP) for assigned system elements, ensuring alignment with product requirements, industry standards, and internal specifications.
- Drive technical excellence : focus on validation, particularly in relation to dyno systems, AVL Puma, and high-power product testing, ensuring thorough assessments of system performance.
- Project leadership : manage and lead multiple projects, ensuring successful execution of tests from planning to final delivery, collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- Innovation and process standardization : implement best practices and standardization across test and validation processes at various integration levels (e.g., Battery, Drive Unit).
- Reliability and lifetime testing : oversee and execute lifetime and reliability assessments based on mission profiles and robust test definitions.
- Collaboration and communication : work with design teams, suppliers, and test labs to collect and track testing requirements; maintain clear stakeholder communication.
- Test specification and documentation : develop comprehensive test specifications for each phase and ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
- FMEA participation : contribute to FMEA meetings to identify and mitigate risks in the development process.
- Safety and compliance : partner with Environment, Health, and Safety teams to maintain a safe and compliant testing environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven hands-on experience in testing and validation of EV components, especially drive units and powertrains.Automotive and EV expertise with deep understanding of automotive systems and testing requirements for high-power products.Technical leadership : ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage test projects, and drive adoption of new test methods and technologies.Test instrumentation proficiency : hands-on experience with dyno systems, AVL Puma, and similar equipment.Advanced knowledge of DV / PV standards, environmental reliability requirements, and industry best practices for testing and validation.Software and hardware : experience with NI LabVIEW and NI hardware for test automation and data collection.Educational background : minimum BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred.Industry experience : 7+ years of testing and validation experience, ideally in automotive or EV sectors.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills : excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and ability to analyze complex data for process improvement.Education Requirements

The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
