REGISTERED NURSE

JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the guidance of the Clinical Care Supervisor and Director of Oncology - Physicist. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient and family-centered care, consistent with the mission, vision, and values of CCH.

The RN ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate oncology care and plays a key role in coordinating and delegating patient care activities to other healthcare professionals. The RN also supports continuous quality improvement efforts across the care continuum and adheres to professional standards and regulatory guidelines. Provides professional nursing care to assigned oncology patients. Records patient histories, performs various diagnostic tests, administers medications including chemotherapy, and develops patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Assists oncologists during examinations and procedures, operating and monitoring medical equipment as necessary. Observes patients' progress and records observations in patient medical records. Teaches patients and families about conditions and treatment options.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs patient assessment and documents in patient record.
  • Develops an age-appropriate plan of care, which addresses physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
  • Implements the plan of care, delegates appropriately and ensures documentation of interventions.
  • Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes, revises plan of care and intervenes as necessary.
  • Educates patient and families regarding current health status, plan of care, and anticipated outcomes.
  • Provides service excellence to all customers.
  • Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing and continuing education.
  • Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Actively participates in hospital committees, CQI teams, and Quality Improvement Program.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • May be required to work on other nursing units according to distribution of staff and patients.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and / or financial practices.
  • Other duties as assigned. This list is non-exhaustive.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure

  • Wyoming RN License.
  • Certifications required

  • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications / Education Requirements Policy.
  • Experience

  • Experience in medical / surgical nursing preferred.
