KBR's Readiness and Sustainment (R&S) division is the Team Behind the Mission. We deliver mission critical services to the U.S. military and coalition partners around the world. Our key capabilities include base operations; contingency and expeditionary support; next generation asset management; digitally focused logistics; prepositioned stock; and integrated supply chain management.

The Lead Contracts Specialist participates in the development and fulfillment of contract requirements in the bidding, purchase, and sale / delivery of equipment, materials, products or services. The role interfaces with internal functions to evaluate contract compliance and establish priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Under general direction, the position will utilize individual knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems, including providing direction for daily activities of contract operations, technical support, or the functional support team. Relying upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of the field, you ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.

The successful candidate will have proven skills in the areas of change management, planning, organizing, directing, communicating, and controlling; with strong decision-making capabilities. Overtime, shift work and TDY assignments will be required, depending on contractual needs.

While there is a preference for this individual to be located near one of our DMV office locations, telework may be an option as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the contracts lifecycle as associated with procurement activity.
  • Issue requests for proposals, evaluate proposals, and qualify suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate contract files in compliance with established procedures.
  • Utilize business judgment to interpret internal (KBR) or external (Industry) issues and recommend best practices.
  • Respond to internal / external customer challenges and recommend solutions to improve products, processes, or services based on industry knowledge.
  • Negotiate change orders with the federal government.

  • Strong conflict resolution skills in addressing difficult concepts, negotiating with others, and influencing positive outcomes for the company.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills verbal, written, and listening.
  • Understanding of litigation and claims processes and experience with legal communities.
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels and in varying functions, from craft persons to senior executives.
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college.
  • MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in contracts administration.
  • Demonstrated continuing education in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current, valid U.S. Passport or ability to obtain one, and U.S. Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various rate structures and contract types.
  • Experience using multiple contract management systems; i.e, CostPoint.
  • Strong communication, analytical skills, and business acumen to make sound decisions and recommendations.
