Job description

Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) in scenic sunny Tucson, Arizona is currently looking for a primary care physician who will be providing coverage for planned and unplanned primary care physician absences.

Position Information :

This position will work out of the Main Campus location in Tucson, AZ. Telework / Travel may be required at any SAVAHCS Primary Care Clinic location. Duties include but are not limited to the following :

Duties :

Provides same day, short term and long-term coverage for planned and unplanned primary care provider absences.

  • Provides effective patient care through telehealth modalities including clinic-based telehealth (CVT).
  • Provides comprehensive and quality clinical care to a panel of adult patients as assigned.
  • Provides direct patient care to optimize patient health including ordering diagnostic testing, prescribing medication including contraceptive medication, consulting with specialty services and utilizing computerized / electronic medical records.
  • Provides patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values and commitment to service excellence.

Work Schedule :  4 x 10-hour shifts. Regular Day Off variable based on coverage assignment. If providing long term panel coverage, work schedule will match established work schedule for team. 4 x 10 hours or 5 x 8hrs depending on assignment.

Requirements :
  • US Citizen
  • Must have an active and unrestricted license in any of the US States
  • Doctor of Medicine or O steopathic Medicine
  • Residency Training in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine in any of the US States
  • Not a telework eligible position.

  • Annual Salary $255,000 - $265,000

  • This position is eligible for  the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP),  a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
  • Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

    Liability Protection : VA physicians are covered under federal tort laws and may be defended by the United States against allegations of malpractice or negligence.
