BRIEFPOSITION SUMMARY
Performs advanced (senior-level) heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) mechanic work.Repairs,maintainsandservicesbaseequipmentandcomponentparts in units such as heating, air conditioning, ventilating and power distribution systems. Performs general maintenance work in all areas of the building trades, such as plumbing,carpentry,painting,etc.Reportstotheelectricalmechanicalsupervisorand works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
WORK HOURS: Tuesday – Friday, 10 hours a day, 40 hours a week
ESSENTIALJOBFUNCTIONSAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)andAir Forcesafetystandards.
- Adheres tostateand Environmental ProtectionAgency (EPA)standards.
- Performspreventive maintenance on all HVAC equipmentand follows maintenance schedule.
- Repairs and replacesbroken partson condensers, compressors and waterand vacuum pumps.
- Testsrefrigerationequipmentforrefrigerantleaks.
- Removesandinstallsmotors,thermostatsandhumidistats.
- Checks gauges andperforms preventivemaintenancework.
- Maintains DirectDigitalControl(DDC) equipment.
- Plansandoverseestheinstallationofairconditioningand heating.
- Identifiesmechanicalproblems anddetermineshowtofixthe problems.
- Troubleshootsmalfunctions andrepairs equipment.
- Troubleshootsandrepairs low voltage electrical.
- Changesoutinoperativeairconditioningandheatingequipment.
- Maintains and repairs buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment and boiler system.
- Monitors energy consumption of HVAC systems and makes recommendations for increased energy efficiency in operations.
- Sets up and installs complex HVAC electrical components.
- Orders materials andsuppliesandmaintains records.
- Adheres tostandby scheduleandresponds toemergency afterhourscalls.
- Attends work regularlyand observes approved work hours in accordance with agency state employee policies & procedures handbook.
- May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters and other missions, to include holidays and weekends.

Qualifications
MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- Graduationfromastandardseniorhighschoolorequivalentis required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) years of experience installing, repairing, and/or maintaining heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration equipment/systems.
- ExperienceusingMicrosoftapplications(suchasMicrosoftWord,Outlookand Excel) is required.
PREFERREDEXPERIENCE:
- Atleasteighteen(18)monthsofexperienceinminorbuildingmaintenanceis preferred.
REGISTRATION,CERTIFICATIONORLICENSURE:
- EPACertificationis required.
- HVACTechnicianregistrationis required.
- Valid driver's license is required. *Texas Driver's License will be required within first30daysofemployment.Satisfactorydrivingrecordsarerequiredfordriving state or personal vehicles to conduct agency business. Copy of DL must be furnished to HR upon employee orientation.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Background Investigation.Selected candidate must pass federal security background investigation. The process includes a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) and fingerprinting. New employees must complete and sign the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Form SF85. Completed forms are submitted to the OPM for the background investigations.

PHYSICAL/WORKINGCONDITIONS
Workinvolvesstanding,walking,stooping,kneeling,climbingandcrawling.Workmay be done in awkward and cramped positions. May be required to work and exposed to inclement weather. Frequently lifts, carries, moves, and sets up equipment and materials weighing up to 125 pounds. Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.
