Position Summary

Florida Orthopaedic Institute’s Spine division consisting of spine surgeons (Dr. Brooks Osburn, Dr. Steven Tresser, Dr. John Small, Dr. Adil Samad, and Dr. Marc Weinstein) and interventional pain physicians (Dr. Faisal Chaudhry, Dr. Stephanie Epting, Dr. Howard Jackson, Dr. Shaan Mehta, and Dr. Margret Zorc) are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our high-performing team. This role will provide support across the entire Spine division, with main responsibilities in clinic.

This position offers the opportunity to float between multiple spine surgeons and interventional pain physicians, gaining exposure to diverse cases and practice styles. Once fully trained, the APP will transition into running their own independent clinic sessions.

We are looking for a motivated, team-oriented provider who takes initiative, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and steps in to fill gaps when needed. A positive, collaborative attitude and “yes-first” approach are essential.

This is a full-time position based in the Tampa Bay area, with responsibilities across FOI offices, affiliated hospitals, and ambulatory surgery centers.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PA or APRN program
  • Current Florida state license as a PA or APRN
  • NCCPA certification (for PA) or national certification as an APRN
  • Orthopaedic, spine, or surgical experience strongly preferred (2+ years), new graduates may apply
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Ability to adapt to multiple physician practice styles and environments
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Transition to running independent clinic sessions after completion of training period
  • Assist supervising physicians in clinical setting
  • Conduct patient histories and physical exams, develop plan of care with clinical pathways and supervising physician(s)
  • Document all patient care activities clearly and accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, surgical procedures, rehabilitation protocols, and post-operative care
  • Serve as a proactive member of the team, stepping in to support physicians, colleagues, and staff where needed
  • Float between multiple spine surgeons to provide clinical coverage where needed
  • Apply and remove casts, braces, and other orthopedic devices when needed
  • Uphold FOI’s standards for excellence in patient care, teamwork, and professionalism
  • Participate in hospital rounds, discharge planning, and consults as required
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
