JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with New York State’s largest owner and operator of manufactured housing communities, retail space, and self-storage units in search of a Director of Construction & Development to join its team.
The Company is seeking a hands-on, experienced Director of Construction & Development to oversee all aspects of its real estate development and construction activities—from site acquisition and due diligence through design, entitlement, budgeting, construction, and final project delivery. This leader will provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and operational oversight to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational goals for quality, value, and long-term growth.
Responsibilities
Development Leadership
- Lead the full development lifecycle for new and redevelopment projects, including feasibility, design coordination, entitlements, and construction.
- Assist with due diligence and underwriting for potential acquisitions and development opportunities.
- Coordinate with municipalities, engineers, architects, and consultants to obtain required permits and approvals.
- Evaluate project feasibility, schedule, and pro forma assumptions to ensure sound investments.
Construction Management
Oversee all construction operations, including design-build and third-party general contractors.Develop and manage construction budgets, schedules, and quality control standards.Lead RFPs and contract negotiations with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors.Implement consistent project management systems, safety practices, and reporting standards.Conduct regular site visits and project meetings to ensure progress, safety, and quality compliance.Financial & Strategic Oversight
Work with Finance Team to track project costs, cash flow, and forecasting to ensure financial discipline.Work closely with finance and accounting to align construction draws, budgets, and reporting.Identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase efficiency without compromising quality.Support executive leadership in capital planning and long-term portfolio strategy.Stakeholder Relations
Serve as the primary liaison between ownership, contractors, consultants, and government agencies.Maintain strong working relationships with local officials, community partners, and design professionals.Represent the company at public meetings, industry events, and development negotiations.Grow internal and external networks to enhance the organization's reputation and identify additional talent to join our team.Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Development, or related field preferred.10+ years of progressive construction management or development experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.Proven experience managing residential or manufactured housing development projects.Strong understanding of permitting, zoning, site work, and infrastructure development.Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.Proficient with project management and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, or similar).A valid driver’s license.Salary Range
