Supply Chain Category Manager
The Supply Chain Category Manager oversees, analyzes, and executes the sourcing activities for key services and raw materials across Silgan Plastics manufacturing sites. In addition, the Supply Chain Manager may manage selective sourcing needs across other Silgan businesses. Success in this role involves influencing both leadership and suppliers to execute category strategies through robust collaboration, commercial acumen, and strategic planning. This will be achieved through close collaboration with operational and financial leaders within cross-functional teams. This position plays a vital role in shaping the company's procurement strategy and success.
Major Responsibilities :
- Manage the relationship with current and prospective suppliers to ensure cost optimization, operational efficiency, and cultivate partnerships that are crucial for business success and growth.
- Spearhead the development and execution of procurement strategies within assigned categories to ensure alignment with the company's goals.
- Lead RFP processes, evaluate proposals, negotiate contract terms and conditions, and present results and recommendations to the leadership team.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis, seeking cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to optimize within assigned categories.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and innovation to make informed decisions regarding product sourcing and category management.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including, production, operations, quality, commercial and finance, to help achieve the category strategy.
- Identify areas of opportunities in the supply chain process and execute solutions to enhance efficiency, optimize operations, and minimize supply-related risk.
- Support buyers and planners in resolving supply-related concerns and challenges.
- Provide monthly price updates to the Pricing team to ensure cost alignment.
- Assess supplier performance and drive strategic improvements like reduced lead times, better quality, lower inventory, YOY cost reductions.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPI) to track effectiveness and efficiency of the procurement function.
- Drive continuous improvement throughout procurement.
Education :
Required : Bachelor's or master's in finance, Purchasing, Supply Chain or a related field.
Experience :
Required : 5-10 years of relevant experience in Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, preferably in a packaging or manufacturing environment.
Skills :
Result-oriented individual with strong analytical / Excel skills able to transform data into actionable insights to facilitate the decision-making process.Capable of working effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with rapid pace and changes.Develop a deep understanding of assigned categories, market dynamics, and their impact on the business.Ability to develop should-cost and cost of ownership models.Demonstrated track record of successfully leading negotiations and delivering tangible results for the organization.Excellent interpersonal, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.ERP systems knowledge (Oracle experience preferred).
