Overview

Join to apply for the Music Theory Tutor role at Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy Company . The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform has thousands of students seeking online Music Theory tutors nationwide. As a tutor on the platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys—all from the comfort of your home.

Responsibilities

Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring in Music Theory.
Explain concepts clearly, personalize lessons, and adapt to different learning styles.
Utilize the Live Learning Platform to conduct remote tutoring sessions.
Invoice for tutoring sessions and manage your own scheduling.

Compensation and Benefits

Base contract rates start at $18 / hour and increase for specialized subjects. You can earn up to $40 / hour with the same student over time.

Paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice.

Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like.

Tutor remotely using our Live Learning Platform—no commuting required.

AI-powered Tutor Copilot enhances sessions with real-time instructional support and engagement features to save prep time.

We handle logistics—you invoice for sessions and we process payments.

Qualifications

Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.

Expertise in Music Theory with ability to explain concepts clearly.

Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.

Preference given to those with tutoring experience, teaching experience, or graduate-level education.
