American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Acute Med / Surg Long Term Swing unit, requiring telemetry and drip titration experience with night shifts.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in an Acute Care setting on a Med / Surg and Long Term Swing unit at a Critical Access Hospital25-bed unit with an average census of 12-15 patientsNurse-to-patient ratios : Acute 1 : 4-5; Non-skilled swing / skilled swing 1 : 6-8Patient population includes CHF, COPD, general medical patients, rehab, wound care, skilled nursing, and SDS casesTele / monitoring is performed by RNs, including basic strip sign-off during shiftCommonly used titratable drips include Insulin, Diltiazem, Nitro, and Heparin12-hour night shifts (6p-6 : 30a), set schedules typically blocked together, every other weekend requiredPotential to float to the ER or postpartum / well mom and baby care if experiencedEMR system is Cerner Community WorksRN is responsible for some medication mixing and respiratory treatments including oxygen managementThere is a charge nurse on each shift and nurse manager support availablePatient care techs are present at a 1 : 8-10 ratioPotential assignments on the Code TeamNo monitor techs on the unitScrubs may be any color as long as they are clean and professionalHoliday coverage may be required based on facility needs1-2 day orientation includes unit competencies and clinical informatics training\n \n Requirements\n
Active WA or Compact RN license requiredMinimum 1 year of RN experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredTelemetry and drip titration experience requiredExperience with insulin, Diltiazem, Nitro, and Heparin drips necessaryWillingness to care for diverse patient populations from medically complex to basic careDepartment-specific orientation requiredPreferred but not required : PALS, NRP, ER, and Post Partum experience\n Benefits\n
