We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Extrusion to join a global leader in medical device innovation. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing advanced extrusion processes that support the production of high-quality medical components used worldwide. The candidate will drive process improvements, ensure cost-effective manufacturing, and apply their expertise in material selection and process optimization to deliver exceptional product performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Develop extrusion processes to manufacture multifilament and monofilament components used in medical devices.
- Evaluate and implement scalable and flexible processes to support product development and product family expansion.
- Design and conduct experiments to optimize material specifications for both existing and new products.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Development, Quality, and Production teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective new product introductions.
- Lead cross-functional projects involving process development, equipment procurement, installation, and validation, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
- Define facility and equipment requirements for polymer and solvent handling processes, ensuring compliance with EHS standards and optimal use of manufacturing space.
- Develop and execute validation plans and facilitate approval of components through design and regulatory review processes.
- Estimate production cycle times, efficiencies, and staffing needs to support capacity planning and identify cost optimization opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field required.Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing process development with in-depth knowledge of extrusion processes required.Proven ability to manage complex, long-term technical projects preferred.Experience in medical device manufacturing or working within ISO 13485 / ISO 9001 / GMP environments strongly preferred.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and process controls.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.Experience with process validation, testing, and documentation in a regulated environment.Skilled in planning, conducting, and analyzing experimental data for process optimization.Hands-on experience with fiber extrusion systems, including wet and gel spinning techniques.Knowledge of textile post-processing methods such as winding, braiding, and coating.Familiarity with a range of polymer and textile testing methods.Compensation and Benefits
