Performs mammographic examsResponsible for identifying and resolving issues related to images, equipment, and quality controlAbility to work effectively and harmoniously with medical / clinical staff, students, and patientsPerforms Breast Imaging related exams according to medical / department standards and department protocolThis imaging is performed to obtain diagnostic quality examinations within proper radiation safety and OSHA guidelinesExams are performed efficiently with a minimum of delay between patients following established protocolsExpected to consistently meet the schedule and quality requirements for all examsOperates mammography department equipment according to protocols as defined by manufacturer, hospital / clinic, or other recognized authorityRecognizes and reports equipment malfunctions or other technical issues to appropriate resourcesPrepares the exam room prior to the next patient's arrival, in a manner that promotes an increase in department efficiencyPrepares patient for exam by providing a clear explanation of the procedure and answering patients questionsProvide appropriate instructions and positioning to obtain maximum image qualityAddress patient questions and concerns regarding mammography and breast proceduresAssists and thanks the patient at the conclusion of the examProduces high quality images and ensures that all images are appropriately labeled / identifiedRecognizes normal anatomy and physiology, normal variations, and pathology and adjusts imaging process as needed to demonstrate allAssures that all applicable images are archived to PACS, and that the integrity of the data is maintainedPerforms PACS reconciliation accurately and completely without follow-up and assists other technologists, radiologists, and other providers with image quality concernsDemonstrates proficiency and knowledge of Epic, Radiant Information Systems, and mammography reporting systemsCorrectly and accurately enters and schedules orders, checks in patients, begins and ends exams, bills supplies, documents notes, cancel / credit submissions, and reviews patient history for pertinent clinical information and contraindicationsPerforms end of day reconciliation for all exams performedProactively looks for opportunities that will increase department efficiency and provide a cohesive working staff environmentRoutinely offers to help others in the performance of their duties and assist in getting or beginning the next patientRegularly stocks supplies and linen, removes dirty linen, cleans work areas and patient care roomsEnsures exam rooms are left clean and well organized for the next staff member and patients useSupports functions of the Lead / QA technologistAssist when needed with routine quality control, answering phones, scheduling patients, coordinating inpatients, and providing instruction to medical staff and patientsProvides a positive teaching environment for / involving co-workers, students, residents, providers, and new staffCompletes all required documentation in a timely and efficient mannerAll information is complete and accurate at the time it is performed and requires no follow-upPrevents or eliminates potential problems that may arise by using intuitive skills and multitaskingProvides assistance to radiologists and other medical staff during performance of all mammography examsFollowing procedure prepares lab specimens, labels, etc. and arranges for timely transport or takes directly to labDemonstrates an understanding of infection control and sterile techniqueMaintains the exam room area in a clean and orderly state and in accordance with the Hospital Infections ControlPreferred Education : 1-2 years of college / university and / or undergraduate degree in a radiologic technology or clinically related fieldAbout Premier Medical Staffing Services
